Energy Efficient - LED have the lowest energy consumption for light sources available in our days.

Environment Friendly - Mercury free makes LED a cleaner alternative to compact fluorescent lamps, also LED bulbs can be recycled

Long Lasting - LED last up to 10 times longer than compact fluorescent and even more so than incandescent light bulbs.

Cost Effective - Although they seem initially expensive, LED cost is easily recovered over time.

Cool - LED produce very little heat whereas incandescent and Compact florescent (CFL) heat up your environment.

So What should you consider when Buying LED?

Wattage - start with the watt of the bulb, how much Watt does it use, But remember its not what you are used to, the days of 60 and 100 watt incandescent bulbs are over in some states even illegal to sell, what used to be a 60 Watt incandescent you will now choose a 8 Watt or even less in LED.

Lumens - the second and maybe even more important that Watt you should look at the Lumens, we used to look at Watts when incandescent was the thing [and you should still look at it to the see if the bulb is energy efficient enough, if a bulb is less then 100 Lumens per Watt (LPW) you should not buy that bulb] however the true way to know if something is strong enough is by looking at the Lumens, a 60 Watt incandescent or 13 Watt Florescent gives you about 800 Lumens, a 8 Watt LED can also get you 800 Lumens, It will depend on the brand and the energy efficiency.

Color temperature - Not to confuse color temperature with brightness, brightness will depend on the Watts and Lumens for how much light it gives out VS the Color Temperature which represents the Kelvin and color of the light, you can have a 2700 Kelvin bulb with a lot of lumens which will make it bright on the other hand you can have a 5000 Kelvin with less lumens which will make it less bright.

Voltage - must Bulbs will be 120/277 Volt however not all of them are, in addition some Bulbs are specially made for the UK and may be a different Voltage.

Brand - this may not be your most expensive purchase in your house or office but why would you want to spend time with defective LED Bulbs and Fixtures? with ohBulbs.com you can be sure we only sell brand name products and we stand behind the products we sell.
